Mystic, CT

A charming town by the water.

The amazing creatures at the Mystic Aquarium are always waiting for visitors so they can show off their skills.  People will find themselves thrilled as they wander from one exhibit to the next and interacting with some of the animals.  Imagine touching sting rays and reptiles, before climbing into a jeep in Exploration: Wild! and driving through a jungle.  The beluga whales are always a favorite and people will watch them swim for hours.

Go back in time as you climb aboard a ship in this re-creation of a 19th century seafaring village.  Watch as workers perform real life duties aboard the ship as they work to preserve these vessels for the future.

Old Mystick Village is a premier shopping destination that transports people back to the year of 1720.  The walkways that lead people to the shops and restaurants are surrounded by flowers, trees, and ponds filled with ducks.  Everyone finds themselves doing as much relaxing as shopping when they are within this village setting.

Downtown Mystic’s Main Street also holds plenty of shopping adventures and everyone needs to venture into Puffins, Mystical Toys, Candy Shop, and Bank Square Books.

Everyone has heard of the movie Mystic Pizza, and while the inside scenes of the movie were not shot inside this restaurant, it still played a huge role in the film.  Therefore, everyone needs to go in and try a slice just to say that they were there!

While in downtown Mystic, you must watch the bascule bridge go up and down at least once.  It is a process that takes quite some time, and it has been slowing down traffic to allow boats through since 1922.

A phenomenal dining option with a view is a table in the treehouse at the Oyster Club.  They offer fantastic happy hour specials every day to celebrate summer, but the real deal is the view from high up in the trees.

Just a short drive from downtown Mystic is Clyde’s Cider Mill and everyone must see the old steam powered cider mill in action!  The process of making apple cider is not easy, but it looks fascinating using this piece of equipment and no one should leave without purchasing some apple cider to take with them.
